Melbourne’s burger game is pretty damn strong – with two of our city’s burgs ranking among the best in the world for 2026. Despite plenty of great local offerings, Victorian burger enthusiasts have embraced American-born burger chain Wendy’s. The fast-food giant opened its first-ever Australian drive-thru restaurant in Dandenong South – and in just the first week, it already smashed global records. The Victorian outpost delivered the highest-performing opening week in Wendy’s global history, beating the previous record set by the brand’s Brisbane CBD flagship.
It also clocked multiple record-breaking hourly sales figures, making it the busiest Wendy’s opening the company has ever seen. Customers snapped up almost 20,000 burgers, 30,000 chicken tenders and around 6,500 Frostys.

The playful new eatery sits within one of Melbourne's busiest residential and commercial corridors. Located at 1A Assembly Drive in Dandenong South, the purpose-built restaurant marks a major milestone in Wendy’s Australian expansion, with drive-thru locations set to become a key part of the chain's growth plans nationwide.
