What’s on

Crafternoon

If your fashion motto is all about making it slay and sustainable, then you’ll want to hit up Crafternoon. Fashion Parade and Playdate Thrift have teamed up with Proud Spaces to host a wholesome Sunday filled with endless craft workshops and community fun, where you can learn from others the different ways to turn old favourites into new gems. There’s a class on basic crochet techniques and an accessory-making workshop that lets you create chic jewellery and hairpins from beads, cloth scraps and other upcycled materials. Another highlight is the upcycling café, where you can personalise your preloved goods with handmade patches that you can pick or make your own (bonus: no sewing experience required). Want to learn how to thrift flip? Drop by the mending and alteration stations and transform old pieces into something you’ll actually want to wear again. Elsewhere, there are clothes swaps and a collaborative community tapestry, to which you can contribute a stitch to the final artwork. All the workshops are pay-as-you-wish, with proceeds going towards supporting initiatives by Proud Spaces and Fashion Parade. Participants are highly encouraged to bring at least one clothing item that they’d like to redesign and upcycle at the event.
