Singapore Symphony Orchestra: A New Chapter of Music-Making

There’s always a good reason to immerse yourself in world-class classical music. This July, the Singapore Symphony Orchestra launches an exciting new chapter with the inauguration of Music Director Hannu Lintu, ushering in the 2026/27 season with a stellar line-up of performances that deserve a spot on your cultural calendar. From July 10 to 12 at Victoria Concert Hall, internationally acclaimed violinist Gil Shaham joins pianist Akira Eguchi for a rare presentation of Beethoven's complete violin sonatas. Across three concerts, you'll journey through the composer's evolution, from youthful exuberance to mature brilliance, in some of chamber music's most beloved works. Then head to the Esplanade Concert Hall for the Hannu Lintu Inaugural Series with the SSO. On July 17 and 18, experience Gil Shaham once again as he takes on Mason Bates's mysterious and soulful Nomad Concerto, before the evening culminates in Mahler's towering Fifth Symphony. The season continues on July 24 with Strauss's breathtaking Also sprach Zarathustra and Bartók's darkly captivating Bluebeard's Castle. Tickets start from just $15, with selected concerts eligible for SG Culture Pass redemption. Marc-André Hamelin in Concert

Whether you're a lifelong classical music lover or simply looking to experience world-class live performance, these are two concerts you'll want to mark on your calendar. This August, internationally acclaimed Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin returns to Singapore for not one but two captivating performances that showcase the full breadth of his artistry. If you love the thrill of a grand orchestral performance, head to the Esplanade Concert Hall on August 6, where Marc-André Hamelin joins the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and celebrated German conductor Sebastian Weigle for Brahms' monumental Piano Concerto No. 2, alongside Dvořák's stirring Symphony No. 7. It's an evening of sweeping melodies, dazzling virtuosity and the kind of emotional storytelling that Romantic music does best. Prefer something a little more intimate? Experience a different side of Marc-André Hamelin at Victoria Concert Hall on August 8 as he joins the SSO musicians for a rare chamber music performance of Brahms' lyrical Horn Trio and Schubert's much-loved Trout Quintet. It's the perfect chance to immerse yourself in the nuance and chemistry that only chamber music can deliver.
